Top five posts of 2022

Top five posts of 2022Who doesn’t like January 1st?! I personally love it. Not only because it is the first day of the new year and symbolizes new beginnings, but also because it’s a lazy, cozy day after a long night of celebration and no one expects you to do anything else than resting. You don’t even have to cook because most probably you prepared so much food for the holidays that now you have tons of leftovers. So, I’m sitting at the coach and reflecting on my humble beginnings as a blogger. I can’t believe it’s been a year. Posting regularly was something that I promised myself when I was starting and I am proud of the fact that I didn’t disappoint myself.

But of course, blogging wouldn’t mean much without you – the reader. I learned so much last year – what people like, what they want to learn, and what inspires them. That’s why this week I decided to celebrate my year as a blogger and compiled a list of the most popular blog posts to share with you (in case you missed some of them). These are the posts that, according to my statistics, were read the most. Take a look at the list below (a short description of each post is included) and let me know which one resonates with you the most.

Happy New Year! May 2023 be prosperous and fruitful for all of us.

Devoicing final consonants

Devoicing consonants at the end of words is common for many languages. While this rarely causes confusion when speakers of these languages speak their native tongue, English has many minimal pairs – pairs of words, which differ in only one sound – that, if mispronounced, may change meaning. Fear of speaking English and what to do about it

Have you ever doubted your English skills or felt anxious when you had to speak with others, whom you considered to be more fluent than you? Click here to read my blog post where I write about what causes anxiety when speaking English as a second or foreign language and share steps to overcoming the fear of speaking.

How to sound clear in English

How can you decide what to focus on first in order to make sure that you speak English in a clear way and that people understand you? When it comes to intelligibility, some sounds are more important than others. Click here to read my blog post where you will find out what sounds to prioritize in order to be a clear communicator.

New country, new me

The title of this post speaks for itself. Click here to read my story about my journey with English: coming to the US, adjusting to the new culture, taking ESL classes, and studying journalism as a non-native English speaker. Many people have told me that this article has inspired them a lot.
